Why Robotics?

Robotics is the Future

55% increase by 2035:  In the next 10 years, the US labor department expects jobs in AI, automation, and robotics to increase by 55% as more industries are investing in technologies geared to high quality with less labor and without the disadvantages of an aging workforce and 30% labor costs.

New Industries will see changes:  Healthcare, entertainment, construction and service industries are all seeing a move to automation that the transportation and energy industries embraced twenty years ago.   Robotics and automation is the future of many industries and the US needs to teach a new set of skills to our youth if they are going to have jobs in the future.  Our Scappoose Robotics Team located nearby the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center (OMIC) can see the future in action.

More jobs than skilled employees already:  The next generation will need to learn STEM and robotics skills to compete for jobs, understand the new requirements of these automated industries, and compete with global pressure. To develop these new skills in automation and technology early, the Scappoose Robotics team builds, troubleshoots, and programs our robot while at the same time developing a business and outreach plan that encourages us to participate in assemblies, open houses, and informational events to show what a robotics team does for our community.

Community Outreach: We continue to inspire others to join the team, as participants and sponsors, volunteers, and cheerleaders.  We learn unique skills and ways of thinking that will take us all into the future.  In addition, our robotics competitions are just as intense and innovative as any school sport and teach us how to compromise, innovate, work on tight deadlines and with tight budgets, research and plan changes, seek sponsorship, and work really hard for a goal.

We don't just build robots

We learn :
