About FIRST

What Is FIRST?

 FIRST is an acronym that stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology". The FIRST mission is to inspire this and upcoming generations to become leaders and innovators for science and new and upcoming technology.  FIRST  teaches kids how to work as a team to overcome a task like designing, wiring, programming, and building a robot in six weeks. It involves youth in programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills. FIRST  inspires  self-confidence, teamwork, gratitude, communication, and leadership in its participants. FIRST  is universally recognized as the leading non-profit for STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics ) engagement for kids all over the world. 

About  Competition

We compete at 2 qualifier competitions in late February or early March.  The results of those competitions determine if we advance to Regional play.  Often our competitions are at Clackamas Academy and at Wilsonville High School but check the calendar to be sure.  Here is a sample of a game from 2024
